Species-rich woodlands on Munich\u2019s doorstep<\/h2>\n

Since 2026, we have been working with ClimatePartner to support an oak forest restoration project in Forstenrieder Park, south of Munich. The project covers around five hectares along the \u2018Max-Joseph-Ger\u00e4umt\u2019 and \u2018Neurieder Stra\u00dfl\u2019 cycle paths. The focus is on enhancing and connecting existing forest edges, which are intended to provide valuable habitat for numerous plant and animal species.<\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n

WHAT\u2019S BEING CREATED IN FORSTENRIEDER PARK<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The forest edges, which have so far been only moderately rich in species, are being specifically developed: extensive management, the spreading of species-rich mown material, and the creation of flowering and insect protection strips are intended to create a diverse range of flowering plants. Plantings of wild pear, hawthorn and wild roses provide additional structure and contribute to the development of diverse habitats. As part of our commitment, we also plan to establish up to ten bee colonies on these sites.<\/p>\n\n

NEW HABITATS FOR WILD BEES, BUTTERFLIES & OTHER INSECTS.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The aim of the project is to create a functional network of biotopes that provides valuable habitats and migration corridors for endangered species. Open, flower-rich forest edges are intended to promote biodiversity \u2013 particularly for wild bees, butterflies and other endangered species. Along the adjacent cycle paths, visitors will be able to see and experience the development of these areas for themselves.<\/p>\n\n
